Description:
Job Summary (Full-time 40hrs/wk)


Schedules patient appointments for provider visits and/or special procedure(s).

Verifies patient demographic and insurance information.

Enters patient demographic and insurance information into practice management system.

Verifies necessary forms requiring patient signature are completed.

Obtains/ensures diagnostic test results for provider/authorized practitioner review are available.

Sends/receives patient medical record information following confidentiality guidelines and standards.


Delivers care as delegated by the physician/authorized practitioner or RN to assigned patient population, or individual patient.

Prepares exam rooms for patient visit and restocks supplies as needed.

Adheres to infection control policies/procedures for exam room and instrument/equipment cleaning.

Rooms patients and gathers data for patient assessment.

Monitors provider schedule and organizes patient flow.

Prioritizes work based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences, in collaboration with the physician/authorized practitioner or RN.

Performs high and low risk technical procedures, including medication administration, as defined by the clinical setting.

Provides patient instruction as delegated.

Documents care in the medical record.

Communicates concerns to delegating provider/authorized practitioner or RN in an effective manner.

Adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and practice guidelines.

Responds appropriately to emergent situations.


Communicates effectively with patients and other members of the healthcare team.

Maintains patient confidentiality.

Utilizes available resources to support communication with population served.

Communicates verbal and written information in a clear, concise, accurate and timely manner.


Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited certified medical assistant program.

Certification is preferred.

One year previous ambulatory experience preferred

Excellent customer service and communication skills. BLS certification preferred. Previous ambulatory care experience preferred. Ability to prioritize work and fluctuation in workload. Ability to keyboard and utilize computer software.
